Visa Debit Card Transition

Your debit card is becoming a Visa card

You'll soon be able to enjoy the benefits of Visa. In an effort to provide you with valuable financial tools and benefits, we’re transitioning your debit card from MasterCard to Visa.
Important Information For this Transition

What It Means for You

  • You’ll receive a new card with the Visa logo.
  • This replaces your current card—activate it as soon as it arrives.
  • On March 9, 2026, your current card will be automatically disabled. You must activate your new Visa debit card before this date.
  • Keep your MasterCard debit card in a secure location and destroy and discard it on March 9 when it is disabled.

What Will Change

  • Your card number, expiration date, PIN, and security code. When activating your new debit card, you can use the same PIN you previously used.
  • You’ll need to update stored payment info for recurring payments (utilities, streaming, subscriptions, etc.).

What Will Stay the Same

  • Your existing account terms.
  • Your checking account number, routing number and access to your funds.
  • How you access your account through digital banking.
  • Your direct deposits, such as Social Security, Payroll and Pensions, as they are set up with your account number, not your debit card number.
  • Our commitment to your security and satisfaction.
Rest easy—there’s nothing you need to do now. We’ll share more info as the transition gets closer. Keep an eye out for your new card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I receiving a new card?

We’re transitioning your debit card from MasterCard to Visa, which provides many valuable features and benefits. We hope you'll enjoy the services that come with your new Visa card.

Will my account terms change?

No. Your existing account terms all remain the same.

Can I still access my account at the ATM?

Yes. You will be able to use your Visa debit card at the ATM. Be sure to use your new PIN, which you will select when activating your new card.

Will I keep my current benefits?

Your new card comes with comparable benefits from Visa, so you’ll still enjoy all the things you count on from MasterCard. Plus, you get benefits like Visa's Zero Liability Policy*, Real-Time Fraud Protection and more.

What should I do with my current MasterCard debit card?

Continue using your current MasterCard debit card like normal until you receive your new Visa debit card in the mail. Once your Visa card is activated and you have updated your online billing and subscription services, keep your MasterCard debit card in a secure location and safely destroy it on March 9 once it is disabled.

What will happen with automatic, card-on-file and recurring bill payments on my card?

Once you receive your new card, you’ll need to update your new card number, expiration date, PIN and security code with merchants who regularly bill this account. This may include wireless, cable, and internet providers, streaming services, insurance companies, highway toll accounts, food delivery services, utilities, subscription services, as well as online merchants where you shop regularly.

Wil my direct deposits be impacted?

No, your direct deposits, such as Social Security, Payroll and Pensions, will not be impacted as they are set up with your account number, not your debit card number.

*Visa's Zero Liability policy does not apply to unauthorized transactions on prepaid cards for which the issuing financial institution has not collected the cardholder's personal information prior to the transaction or to certain commercial card transactions. Cardholders must use care in protecting their card and notify their financial institution immediately of any unauthorized use. Cardholders should contact their issuing financial institution for additional details.
